High school students Noah Johnson and Lucas Apsey of Sevastopol; and Jayden Bedell, Caleb Meier and Kody Marchant of Southern Door, have all completed the first year of the Door County High School Machining Program held at Sevastopol.

Under the instruction of Garrett Sowl, the students learned how to operate 11 machines and earned 16 credits that can be applied to Northeast Wisconsin Technical College's (NWTC) CNC Machinist Program.

NWTC leads the Door County High School Machining Program, in partnership with Sevastopol, Southern Door, Sturgeon Bay and Gibraltar high schools; Door County businesses Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding, Pro Products, N.E.W. Industries, Cadence and Itasca; and the Door County Economic Development Corporation.

Students from Door County's four mainland high schools who are interested in joining the program for the 2023-24 school year should contact their school's guidance counselor for more information.
