E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Co. shook off claims that it negligently manufactured components used in clothes dryers that caused the units to catch fire.

The claims brought by dryer manufacturer Arcelik AS fail because the component—a plastic product called Zytel FR50—was manufactured by DuPont subsidiary DuPont China and there's no evidence DuPont controlled or was involved in the day-to-day manufacture of the product, the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit ruled in an unpublished opinion.
